Choir and Orchestra | 4th-8th Grades
Music is very important at Eastside. Studies have shown that studying music, especially learning to play an instrument, improves a person's ability to learn other subjects - including math, science and language. Eastside believes that learning music promotes a more balanced and complete use of the way our minds gather and assess information, and plays an important role in forming a person's character in relating to others and living to glorify our God.
Students in grades 4th through 8th all participate in choir which meets twice each week, and 5th-8th graders are all members of orchestra, which meets three day/week. The students give a December concert, perform at the All-School Spring program, and also give other performances throughout the year. Students are excited about the musical opportunities at Eastside and it has become a valuable part of our school culture.
Mr. Eric Phelps leads the orchestra with help from Mrs. Crista Phelps, and Mr. Andy Kuiper is the choir director with Mrs. Marilyn Adams accompanying.
